Environmental Protection
Open Joint Stock Company “Crimean Soda Plant” purposefully conducts activity on minimization of hazard effect on environment. Observation of ecologically safety norms and rational use of natural recourses are considered as mandatory issues of effective economical activity of the plant.
In this regards the plant activity is realized within norms of legal environmental regulation of Ukraine.
There are all required environmental approvals issued by Ministry of Ecology: boundaries and allowance for generation and disposal of production waste, atmospheric emissions for stationary sources, allowance for special water consumption.
All possible ecological aspects are determined, identified and assessed. There have been elaborated special plans on liquidation and minimization of these negative effects on environment. These plans are under constant realization. Total sum expended in 2009 on execution of nature-conservative measures amounted 6769.030 thousand UAH (2008 – 6600.589 thousand UAH).
Systematic control of ecological status at the plant as well as of the sanitary area is realized by departmental sanitary laboratory which has been attested by State Epidemiologic Control, Ministry of Nature and State Standard Bodies.
The laboratory equipped with updated control instruments realizes monitoring of environment by parameters of chemical and physical production effect. There are evaluated and realized plans of analytical air control and some other physical and chemical factors which can influence working places, plant territory, sanitary zone, waste water content, fresh water quality, gas cleaning stations work. High quality operators have adequate education and experience.
Environment control system allows to develop activity efficiency by means of on-line control and result estimation thus preventing health and nature after-effects.
Production line uses 45 gas cleaning installations. Dust and gas cleaning plants are replaced or put under repair on the regular basis thus purifying outbursts. The sum of expenditures for repair of aspiration objects amounts 317.9 thousand UAH in 2009. The outburst volume is much lower than allowed norms fixed by state nature-conservative bodies.
In 2009 specific outburst volumes reduced by 18 % as compared with 2008.
The plant has elaborated special system of collecting and removal of production and domestic waste. All departments have zones for short term waste storage which are specifically equipped. Accumulation and evaporation waste area has “Certificate of waste removal zone”. The plant strategy is to minimize waste volumes and their safety removal and storage. In 2009 there were expended 39.4 thousand UAH to realize the strategy.
Collector of production waste discharge is located in the northern part of Lake Krasnoye, a closed water basin located in the distance of 10 km from the Black Sea Karkinitskiy Bay.
OJSC “Crimean Soda Plant” expended 653.4 thousand UAH to prevent hazardous effect of its activity on environment.
In 2010 the plant became a winner in the nomination "Ecological quality and safety zone".
